Haiku Friday!

I love my readers
faithful through the good and bad
lets keep it PG

Super Bowl Sunday
the last game of the season
Rob returns to us

Don't forget to comment in the form of a Haiku (5-7-5).

Dear Dad,

Thank you so much for watching the girls last night while Rob and I enjoyed each others company over dinner. It was wonderful to be able to have a much needed date night with the security of knowing the girls were in good hands with their beloved grandpa. And, what a delight returning home to happy, clean, and pajama clad girls, wrapped comfortably in your arms. It made bedtime a breeze. We simply tucked them in, kissed them goodnight, and within minutes they both peacefully slipped into dreamland. It was fantastic!

But, that was just the beginning.

Thanks to you, Maggie COMPLETELY slept through the night! Rob woke HER up this morning before he left for work around 7 am.

Miraculous!

It's the best way to describe it.

As I began Maggie's morning routine, this time well rested and fully functioning, I thought to myself, how did he do it? What did he do to make her sleep? I have tried endlessly to no avail to get this little gal to sleep for more than three hours at a time. What was your secret?

Then as I carefully opened her heart pajamas to change her, your secret was revealed...

A backwards diaper!

I was certain I had tried everything under the sun to get this girl sleeping. But, something as simple as putting her diaper on backwards never crossed my mind.

They say, "Father knows best". By golly, do you ever. I am forever grateful for you and your parenting wisdom.

Love,
Shawna

Today is a Sad, Sad Day

Someone flagged my blog.

It's true.

I've been flagged for inappropriate or objectionable content.

I'm shocked.

I have always thought that I have a good sense of what is appropriate and what is not. I am always careful to choose my words and images wisely as to not offend or upset any one of my six readers.

However, according to Blogger standards, I have committed any one of the following violations, to which I staunchly disagree with.

1. General inappropriate content.
I was going to post this picture taken from a trip Rob and I took years ago to a remote, undisclosed island off the coast of Australia.

But, I didn't.

I didn't because I found this picture offensive.
As my mother has always said, it is rude to point.

2. Copyright/Piracy issues.
I was going to post this picture of this incredibly limber man found on my sister's blog.

But I didn't.

I didn't because I knew I needed to ask her permission before using this photo. I tried calling her for weeks and was unable to speak with her due to her intense screening process. So, I just scrapped that idea.

3. Hate.
I toyed with the idea of posting about my deep distain for mayonnaise

and bananas

But I didn't.

I like to keep my blog as positive as possible so, I left that idea alone.

4. Violence.
Now I may be guilty of this one.

In August 2007, I posted a story about Rob's encounter with this beautiful, yet aggressive bird.

I can see where this bird attacking my husband's stick-like ankles could be seen as being violent.

And, I apologize.

5. Impersonation.
This is another guilty admission.

I posted this picture of Kasey (with her permission) impersonating a cave woman.

Again, I apologize. (Not for the picture, but for Kasey's insensitive decision to inaccurately depict our ancestors for Halloween.)

So, to whomever was offended by anything posted on "Olive-Us", please accept my sincerest apology. I am deeply saddened by any harm or ill feelings this family friendly blog has caused you. I am at a loss for words. So much so, that I have chosen to share with you the following photo which I feel accurately portrays my remorse.

They're Best Friends

They even have a homemade bracelet to prove it.

Haiku Friday!

Why not?

This is a great way to keep me blogging at least once a week.
Not to mention, a great way to sharpen my Japanese poetry skills.

So, without further ado...
I present to you,
my first Haiku. (wow, I'm talented.)

This One Is Worth 10 Points....

Question:
What do the following creatures all have in common?

Answer:
They are all nocturnal.

** Give yourself 5 points if you guessed that they all will scratch your eyes out when provoked.**

Good Morning

On the third day of these two sharing a room, I awoke to this:

I love my babies.
And, that dirty, yet cuddly sea otter.

Jump For Joy!

Olive returns back to school tomorrow!

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE all things Olive and am beyond blessed to have such a tremendous gal in my life.

But, a three hour break, three days a week is also a blessing.

What Is My Problem???

I LOVE blogging, Don't get me wrong.

But why lately do I find it so hard to post?

Or clean my house?

Or make dinner?

Or leave the house for other reasons than to visit the local drive-throughs?

I resolve on this third day of January 2009 to be a better blogger. To maintain Olive-Us as though it is just as important as taking out the trash, or vacuuming.

But, more than just once a month.

I promise.
